I travelled to see 2 of my sons who had recently moved there. I surprised them by just turning up.I was very pleased with the Great Grubb and the hostess was amazing and nothing was too much trouble, great breakfast and comfy bed.I will definitely be returning. Thank you.

Very comfortable en-suite single room, perfect for one. Spotlessly clean. Had a good nights sleep and a yummy breakfast. The host is very kind, helpful and thoughtful. The location is a quick walk from the town centre and plenty of parking. I’d definitely stay again.

To be in walking distance from Totnes’ shops and restaurants was a real bonus. The information available on local walks and trails was excellent. Bed was very comfy and room and bathroom clean. Good shower.

The host of this B&B was just lovely and made us very welcome.The room and bathroom were very clean and breakfast excellent.As a coeliac this can limited but I was able to have cereals, bread and a full cooked breakfast - rare to have it all.The room was quite small and on a busy road but for fine for a couple of nights stay.

The hosts were very welcoming and helpful during our stay.Comfortable room and spotless bathroom. All looked exactly like in the pictures except for the leveled garden, which is even nicer in person!The BnB is only around 10 minutes walk away from Totnes high street.

This was such a warm and friendly place to stay the night, with a lovely breakfast provided in the morning. The private parking was handy in a town where parking is almost impossible. And breakfast in the Conservatory next to real Bougainvillea (I think!) added to that feeling of being on holiday somewhere exotic, despite the torrential day-long rain on the day of my arrival!I’d give it 10 stars if I could!

Following a friendly welcome, bedroom was perfect with comfortable bed, good shower facilities & spotless. Enjoyed our breakfasts in the sunny conservatory with a view of the garden. Liked the relaxed, informality & conversation & look forward to future holidays at the Great Grubb.

John and Sandra made us very welcome, their place was very cosy and great food too.

Everything at the Great Grubb was of a very high standard.John and Sandra work well as a team to make sure guests are well fed with good quality food and an amazing choice.They are also very flexible about using the conservatory for eating or drinking in the evenings. The accommodation was comfortable and very clean. We slept really well in a quiet environment with a comfortable bed.We would definitely use next time we visit Totnes.

We can’t fault our stay and will most definitely stay again . We were given a warm welcome by John and shown to our lovely comfortableroom .Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choices .My sister in law and niece had breakfast with us the next day and were very impressed with breakfast and the friendly homelyatmosphere created by John and Sandra .

Room was tastefully laid out and clean. Bed was very comfortable. Our hosts were attentive, but not intrusive, and friendly. Breakfast was substantial and tasty.We would have preferred fresh milk for bedroom drinks, perhaps small bottles left in dining room fridge with a room number on.

I had a wonderful weekend at The Great Grubb. The room was cosy and clean, on the ground floor and easily accessible. The Breakfast options were brilliant and Sandra and John were very hospitable and kind. Highlight was bespoke scrambled eggs with tons of fresh chillies, especially sourced for me.I look forward to staying here again with my family. Highly recommended. Easy access to the high street and a safe and clean neighbourhood.

Such a wonderful stay, first contact was a call from the owners to see if I was safe as I hadn't checked in at the time I said I would. So nice that they took the time to see if I was ok. Check in was great, all useful info given and the room was clean and warm. Bed was comfy and it was cleaned/replenished everyday. I stayed for three nights for work and it was a nice place to come back to, a good nights sleep each night. The food... breakfast was absolutely stunning, hot, well presented and decent, quality ingredients. I genuinely thought the owner used to be a chef the food was that good. A warm homely feel as well so I didn't feel the need to get fully dressed in the morning and could come to breakfast in my PJ bottoms/TShirt and eat in comfort. I am back in Devon soon for work and fingers crossed they'll have availability so I can stay there again. Absolutely fab!!

Really enjoyed my stay, John and Sandra are absolutely lovely and really go out of thier way to look after you, the breakfast is amazing too and they catered for my Gluten and Dairy free diet with no problem at all, it was delicious.

Very comfy and warm Room

Sandra and John were very friendly and did all they could to make us comfortable.In response to a question asking whether we had been warm enough, on the second night she provided and extra blanket, a hot water bottle and left the heating on longer.That made all the difference. Very nice people. I would give five stars but give four because the first night we weren't warm enough as it had been very cold weather that week.

We both really enjoyed our stay here.I have stayed in B&Bs all over the UK and this was a real gem.The room was spotlessly clean, finished to a high spec and the bed was super comfy.The welcome we received from John and Sandra was really warm and the breakfast was magnificent.Whilst completing John on our enjoyable stay he thanked us and modestly mentioned that they don't do anything different. The fact is that what they do do, they do extremely well.I would definitely recomend staying at the Great Grubb, my wife and I will certainly be returning again.

We really enjoyed our time at the Great Grubb.Sandra and John are wonderful hosts, the location was excellent and the room was spotlessly clean.Breakfast was definitely a highlight!If I had one issue it would be that the room was small, but the rest of the experience more than makes up for that, and we will definitely go back.

Our room was extremely comfortable, clean and modern with a big spacious bed.Plenty of tea, coffee and toiletries were provided in the room.The breakfast was superb with a wide range of choices and well-cooked and presented.John gave us some tips of places to eat out and park.A highlight was the patio and garden behind, where you can eat breakfast if you so wish.It's just outside of town but that comes with the benefit of parking.We really enjoyed our stay and would gladly return should we be in the local area again.

Yes there are so many reasons why I keep returning to the Great Grubb. First in line is the warm reception I always receive, the smiling faces and genuine delight to see me again. This is matched by the service I receive, flexible time for breakfast and an amazing choice, beautifully, freshly cooked by John if you want cooked, with various cereals, fresh fruits, toast of all persuasions, you name it, all diets catered for, and delivered by Sandra with her cheerful demeanour, always ready for a chat - or not, if you prefer reserved. That's before you consider the rooms. I've now stayed in all of them and cant find fault with any. How fabulous to have lovely perfumed toiletries in containers not those ghastly little sachets, fresh towels as and when and the room serviced daily. Oh and of course, the beautiful little courtyard and sloping garden where you're welcome to relax any time. Given it's convenient location at the top of the town as well as handy for touring around (heaps of buses), who needs look for anywhere else to stay in Totnes!

I booked a single room for my business trip. I get bored with Premier Inns when working away so scouting Booking.com for somewhere in the Totnes area I found the Great Grubb. On arriving John showed me into my lovely clean room which had everything I needed: the teapot was a great extra touch! Breakfast was very nice and the personal touch of referring to me and the other guests by name was very friendly and engaging. I would definitely recommend.

Excellent B & B at the top of the town.Comfy room excellent mine hosts nothing too much trouble.Superb breakfasts will test the faint hearted.Use of the beautiful garden in the hot weather an addedbonus.Would definately recommend this establishment.

The owners were really great, super friendly and a pleasure to talk to. Accomodation was perfect and the breakfast was excellent. Absolutely no complaints.

Second time we have stayed here - a group of 4 adults.Clean, comfortable and welcoming. Plus the breakfasts are great.We make a point of meeting up in the conservatory mid evening for a tipple before turning in for the night. The Great Grubb is a convenient place to stay whilst enjoying the delights of Devon. Plus Free Parking.

The very welcoming hosts were wonderful and our group of 4 had a great stay. The breakfast was excellent and they even took a very cheeky request for black pudding and delivered some the next morning! Comfy beds, clean rooms in good condition and plenty of parking for our motorbikes made this the perfect place for a biker trip.

Just a short walk away from the centre of Totnes where there are lots of quirky shops and a good selection of restaurants. The room was well equipped including real coffee and cafetiere.

We have just returned from a lovely break in Totnes Devon staying at the Great Grubb.The breakfasts were very good cooked to order and whatever you fancied from the menu each day. The accommodation was good very clean and serviced daily.The owners were very friendly and helpful and made you feel at home they have extensive knowledge of the area and supply maps and have scores of booklets and ideas for things to do in the area. The weather was superb and We highly recommend this B and B .

Place was lovely, comfy and clean. Centre of town is a short walk away with their being a very nice garden terrace for guests in the back garden.Breakfast was nice plus there is water beside the bed, something a lot of hotels forget about now. I would definitely stay again.

A warm welcome, a cosy well-appointed room, a magnificent breakfast (which sustained me during a stretched-out journey back). Nothing was too much trouble - John ran me to the station on Sunday morning. Informal, friendly - I could have stayed chatting for ages. What a wonderful place!

We cannot recommend the Great Grubb B&B highly enough, the hosts Sandra & John were so welcoming & helpful to me, my wife & our 9 year old daughter they made us feel at home straight away & nothing was too much trouble for them. Our room was spotlessly clean, the Super King Size bed was super comfy & there were lots of little personal touches that go such a long way. The breakfast was absolutely first class, in fact the nicest, most delicious I have had. You were spoilt for choice with cereals & fruit before the exceptional made to order cooked breakfast consisting of any combination you required. We simply could not fault the Great Grubb & are already looking forward to our next stay there because we will definitely be back! 👍😊

Comfortable, clean and with a good attention to details.The rooms are well appointed with nice toiletries, a good tea tray and a high standard of hygiene.The breakfast lives up to the name of the place with a wide choice of good quality food, well cooked and well presented.The hosts are very welcoming and service orientated and as a nice touch they take the trouble to learn your name.

What can we add to all the other good comments about The Great Grubb. Sandra & John are the perfect hosts providing comfortable accommodation, an excellent breakfast choice that appears to cater for all dietary needs and are happy to offer help, be it in planning ones day or assisting guests to get to their chosen destination. Our room was en-suite, comfortable and kept clean, another bonus is it is only a short walk into Totnes town.

I was only at The Great Grubb for one night but I had a comfortable stay and an excellent breakfast.The hosts were warm, friendly and helpful.I was in a little single room which was fine for one night but I would probably try to book a double if staying longer.It was an easy walk to the station.I hope to return to Totnes and would certainly stay at The Great Grubb again.

The room was lovely, and it’s well placed for Totnes or a walk up to Dartington. The best thing about the Great Grubb is the lovely patrons, and the amazing breakfast. My only problem is I didn’t walk enough to burn off the breakfast because the weather was so foul (storm Eunice).

John and Sandra are amazing at making you feel at home - the rooms are cosy and comfortable, breakfast is incredible and the general vibe of the bed and breakfast is very homely and warm. I stay here every time I travel for work to Totnes and would recommend it for both business and leisure trips alike.

What a lovely couple, John & Sandra, really made you feel welcome. We booked with The Great Grubb as there was a small party of us going to a family wedding and where the B&B is based was literally minutes away from registry office and the venue (The Dartmouth Inn, another fab review on its way!) All rooms were spacious, clean and well equipped with tea & coffee etc. Shower in the morning was hot and powerful and white fluffy towels.Breakfast was vast, don't over order, there is plenty on your plate when it arrives, great choices and especially the smoked bacon, absolutely delicious. All in all a great stay and will be returning.

The breakfast was fantastic, hot , freshly cooked and absolutely delicious, the service was outstanding. This was the best Bed and Breakfast we have had in a long time , and we have been to plenty. Nothing was too much trouble for John and Sandra, we brought a take away fish and chips , in the dining room they kindly lay a table with plates , cutlery, condiments,napkins and even cleared away afterwards . We throughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back and recommend this gem to our friends no hesitation. Excellent and Five Stars

Good access for someone with mobility problems, with useful lighting if arriving in the dark: several rooms are ground floor ones with one step up to the entrance door. Convenient car parking. Very clean room. Great welcome and conversation with our hosts; wonderful breakfast - the equivalent of three normal breakfasts if one is tempted.In retrospect I should have booked a slightly bigger room with more space around the bed and a slightly bigger bathroom area. As with most hotels, there was no shelving for wash bags around the hand basin area. Good shower, but hot water took time to arrive. Excellent local information in the room. Tea and coffee facilities. Wifi good: finding an available power socket involved some crawling around.

Have stayed here before, John and Sandra are lovely hosts. Taken every effort to make you feel safe with Covid precautions but not to the detriment of your stay or the great breakfast

From before we even arrived, Sandra and John were perfect hosts. They even managed to make our awkward teens feel at ease! They accommodated changes to our booking and a late check in. Our rooms were all spotless and very comfortable, with toiletries and a great selection of beverages. Breakfast was delicious, so much choice and encouraged to have it all!

This is a brilliant place. The hosts Sandra and John were very friendly, cheerful and helpful. They recommended several lovely walks. The breakfasts were delicious and set me up for the rest of the day! It took me just 15 minutes to walk to town, but I do walk fairly quickly. My room was very comfortable and had everything I required. The shower was good. I think this place is excellent value for money and would definitely recommend.

We spent 4 nights at the Great Grubb and felt very well looked after. Fantastic breakfasts, and John and Sandra are very friendly, relaxed and accommodating hosts. There is a sheltered outside patio space where we were able to eat our takeaway pizza one evening (from Room 101 -recommended) and were supplied with cutlery and wine glasses to make it more special. Our room was quite small but comfortable and had everything we needed. Guests are welcome to borrow books, games, umbrellas, maps etc for outings and there is a fridge in the dining room for guests to use. Altogether we were made to feel very at home. Sandra even kindly did a small bit of washing for us when my teenaged son said he didn't have any clean socks left - really above and beyond!! Altogether this is a great place to stay to explore Totnes and Dartington and we would definitely recommend it.

This is an excellent B&B in a great location for visiting some beautiful areas of Devon. The accommodation is very comfortable and the hosts, Sandra and John, could not be more friendly and welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it.

We were made very welcome. The room whilst small had everything that we needed and had been well thought out. Breakfast was excellent and there was a lovely garden had we had the time to enjoy it.

My sister and I had a night here in June, and the hosts could not have been more welcoming. Very comfortable and clean room, and the courtyard area is the perfect spot for drinks and relaxing. The breakfast menu was extensive and catered well for veggies and vegans. Highly recommended.

This was my second stay at the great grubb. i felt very welcomed and comfortable. The place is the cleanest i have been (and i am very picky) and the hosts are wonderful. John and Sandra had suggestions on where to go and what to do and they seemed honestly interested in us having a good time exploring Totnes and the surrounding areas. The breakfast is also very good, with many options to choose from. Many thanks to the great grubb for another great stay!

From the moment I arrived, I was blown away by this place. The decor is beautiful and you feel like you're abroad with the bright colour's on the terrace and stunning flowers. My bedroom was immaculate and the breakfast was utterly delicious. I especially enjoyed the seat high up the path with amazing views over the valley. The two hosts couldn't of been friendlier and made such an effort to chat to you and make you feel at home. I can't wait to come back! Amazing place.

This is a lovely B&B located around 10min walk to the centre of Totnes.The amazing John and Sandra are wonderful hosts who always make you feel welcome, provide helpful advice and tips, as well as sharing a laugh.The breakfast is tasty, with a great selection and plentiful, often leaving you feeling like you can skip lunch.The area offers lots to do with children (ours were 10 and 7 years old).We would highly recommend this B&B.

Property was excellent. Our room was big enough with room for storage. Bathroom was clean, shower was always hot. Breakfast was cooked to order and excellent choice, quantity and quality. Walk into Totnes was 10 mins to the edge of the town and 20 mins into the middle. Friendly hosts and highly recommended

Welcoming & accommodating hosts, Sandra & John, ensure a wonderful stay at their B&B in Totnes. Room had all the amenities required & was spotlessly clean. A filling breakfast sets one up for the day, with plenty of choices for different dietary needs. I felt no qualms staying here as all Covid regulations were carried out round the property by the B&B hosts & to ensure guests were social distanced at breakfast, you could eat both inside or out in the garden: 3 areas in all & a temporary rota ensures no overcrowding. The B&B has parking & is an easy walk of less than 10mins into Totnes main street. Totnes itself is a delightful, quirky & friendlytown filled with one off shops & galleries & some lovely restaurants as well as being historically interesting with some wonderful architecture. Totnes is ideally placed for visiting many areas around but less congested to stay in. I would have no hesitation in recommending friends to stay at this friendly B&B & I hope one day to revisit.

Our time at the Great Grubb was just perfect.Sandra and John are such great hosts, so friendly, welcoming and helpful, nothing was too much effort.Breakfast in the garden was just amazing.The breakfast was one of the best I have had in a B & B, with fresh fruit, juice and a great veggie cooked breakfast. The room was really comfy with a great view of the beautiful garden.The place is only a short walk for town.This place really is highly recommended and I really hope to return soon!

Really nice people and clean

We stayed for 4 nights in the annex to the house (room 7) which was perfect for us as it was easy to get bags in and out from the car.The room itself was ideal, comfy bed and powerful shower, and all spotlessly clean. Sandra and John are excellent hosts and couldn't do enough for us. The breakfast each day was excellent with a fresh fruit and yoghurt followed by a full English (or any combination you liked) perfectly cooked by John.We had breakfast twice outside on the terrace which was lovely. Ideal location for the town centre, being a short walk into Totnes and great as a base for travelling around the region.If we are ever back in this part of the world we would not hesitate to stay here again.Thanks for your hospitality.

I've stayed at the Great Grubb several times and know that I will return many more times. Not only is Totnes a lovely quirky, friendly town, perfect for visiting other places in the area, but the Great Grubb make it an absolutely perfect holiday. Sandra and John's breakfasts are to die for with every imaginable item you could want on the menu. The rooms are attractive, fresh and comfortable and the dining room, conservatory and garden, colourful, picturesque and available for relaxing in whenever. The always friendly, cheerful and helpful demeanours of Sandra and John make me say I couldnt rate it more highly.

We had a very warm welcome by both John and Sandra, nothing was too much trouble. We were a family of 3 with a dog and the room was perfect for us. Very clean, with everything you could possibly need. Excellent facilities and breakfast was great with a large choice of items and everything fresh and cooked perfectly. Ideal place to stay for visiting the area, we will definitely book again.

Our stay was very comfortable. The Great Grubb was spotlessly clean . Great location for walking into Totnes . The breakfast very tasty and there was a huge selection to choose from. Our host Sandra gave us a friendly warm welcome and was there to answer any of our enquiries . We felt safe during these COVID times , Everywhere very clean , a selection of sanitisers , the distancing and staggeredbreakfasts in the dining room or conservatory meant that we had either room to ourselvesWe would definitely stay again .

We arrived much later than planned so it was already dark (around 9pm). However, having informed the owners, they were more than happy to wait for us and show us our room which was a ground floor annex at the front of the house. The room was warm and clean with a king size bed, tea and coffee making facilities and a TV. The en-suite shower was lovely and hot with fluffy towels. This was just what was needed after a long day of travelling. We were told on arrival that we were in the first breakfast sitting at 8am. This was a little early for us as we had left home before 5am the previous morning. However, this was because of the Covid precautions to ensure that guests maintained an adequate social distance. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice including gluten free if required. The lady of the house was very jolly and extremely prompt as we needed to be out by 8.50am to allow for the next lot of breakfast guests at 9am. Everything is currently very different in this new environment but we were made to feel welcome and comfortable. Plenty of parking out front too.

I cant compliment this B&B enough. The rooms were really comfortable, with little extras like flowers and all the fittings matching in bright cheerful colours. We were very impressed with the precautions that had been put in place for Covid; we felt very secure. The breakfasts are amazing, plentiful and beautifully cooked. But most of all is the friendliness and warmth of Sandra and John, always smiling and making us feel very welcome. They are the perfect hosts.

We were warmly welcomed by John and Sandra. Our bedroom was of normal size with a good sized shower and toilet facility. Breakfast was upstairs in the conservatory and social distances were strictly observed.

The breakfast was 5*. I have already told my friend about the gluten free options they provide along with soya milk. Their COVID procedures were very good with timed slots for breakfast and time allowed for cleaning in between. We arrived late (but phoned ahead) and were able to leave car whilst popping into Totnes for some retail therapy! Overall a very satisfied client????.

Location was good as allowed for free parking, with a short walk in to town. Bed was comfortable, and everything was clean. Breakfast in morning was made to order and very tasty. And the hosts were very welcoming.

Where do I start? The welcome was so warm, the location is perfect to walk into Totnes or drive to the coast in 20 mins. The breakfast freshly cooked, exactly what you like and extremely generous I didn’t need lunch. The bed was comfortable and the linen so clean and fresh smelling. The shower was a bit small but not squashed but I loved the power and heat, one of the best showers I’ve used whilst away. There are really nice products to use like the hand soap and shower gel, they weren’t the usual cheap stuff you get, I enjoyed using them. The communal garden is lovely to sit and read with a glass of something. I’m probably forgetting something but highly recommended.

From the moment we arrived, to the moment we left we were treated by our most wonderful hosts, where nothing was too much trouble and giving their best was what came natural too them.The rooms were really comfortable, very well presented, thoroughly cleaned and COVID-proof. Breakfast each day was fabulous for both myself, my husband and and our two year old, who became best friends with John on her stay and loved jibbering and chatting to Sandra about her day. Again we ate like kings, ever morning..Our stay was 5 nights, so we got to enjoy all of Totnes and we’re recommended to got to Broadsands beach, Dartmouth steam valley railway and river cruise at Dartmouth both of which we truly loved. Salcombe was only a few miles away again and as was DZP (or Dartmoor Zoological Society as it’s now known). We were also recommended many places to eat all within walking distance and we literally had the beautiful woodland of Follaton House and the beautiful river dart (with seals) just around the corner.Loved this place - 10/10 and have already booked to go back in October :)

Sandra and John are great hosts, the house, patio and garden are immaculately cared for. Breakfasts were amazing. Covid 19 arrangements were thorough. The double room was very comfortable with a lovely view (watching dawn sunrise was a treat) The single room was rather gloomy and a bit cold.

This was our 2nd visit here and if possible was even better than the first. The hosts have gone to exceptional lengths to ensure a safe stay during these uncertain times. The room was of a high standard and beautifully clean. A good choice for breakfast to keep you going during the day.We will definitely be returning.

We had imagined a more rural setting, however the house is on a main road into Totnes which is fairly busy and the room was in the front so was noisy. However, during the night the traffic ceased and we slept well. Our bathroom was well appointed and new and everything was perfectly clean. The best thing about the stay were the hosts who were extremely helpful and friendly. Another nice touch I appreciated was they put the heating on briefly in the morning so that the towels dried in the internal bathroom. Being in the position it was, it was only a 10 minute easy walk into town.

A friend and I stayed at The Great Grubb for one night and we couldn't fault it! The service was excellent, the room was clean and well equipped with tea, coffee and hot chocolate, the breakfast was delicious and the location was perfect for exploring Totnes. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends and family.

Stayed for 3 night's last week on our tour of Devon and the Great Grubb was by far and away the best place we stayed at and as good as any bed and breakfast we have ever stayed in. Easy to find and only a short 5 minute walk into town centre. John and Sandra were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The room was a good size, nicely furnished and spotlessly clean as was the all the public areas. The bed was really comfortable and the power shower was fantastic. Breakfast was excellent, with lots of choice including cereals, fruit juice, fresh fruit, toast, filter coffee etc and a cooked breakfast with quality ingredients. Will definitely stay here again if in the area.

Sandra and John were so lovely, nothing was too much trouble. The room was comfortable and spotless and so cosy with underfloor heating. The breakfast was delicious with my favourite, fresh fruit salad and yoghurt and the full English was of a first rate quality and beautifully cooked.

We were visiting the Sharpham Trust site and needed overnight accomodation for one night. The accomodation was excellent! Very helpful introduction providing us with info on restaurants bars etc plus facilities available in B&B. Very ggod location 10 mmins walk from top of high street, good carparking. Excellent breakfast and again just enough interaction to make us feel welcome without overdoing. Thoroughly recomment Great Grubb and Totnes!

I only stayed here for a night but i have to say i was very impressed. There is a high standard for cleanliness! Sparkling clean bathroom and shower, toilet, new carpet. There was no sign of dust anywhere not even under the bed. The hosts are super welcoming and friendly. Place issuper cute and there is attention to detail. Breakfast is great and there is flexibility with what you can choose. The Great Grubb is also at a very nice location, quiet and close to the centre. I highly recommend this place and i will definitely be going back.

We came to stay as a family - 5 of us, all adults. 3 of us are vegetarians and 2 are vegans. We had a lovely stay in a very comfortable B&B - lovely beds to sleep in - and a most fantastic breakfast. Actually even more stars than that. This is a BnB well above average. Sandra and John made me feel so welcome, as if I was one of the family, with extra little touches like Christmas cake and Prosecco and loans of walking boots and umbrella. The room was very cosy which was needed given the weather and there was no way I could eat all the delicious items on offer for breakfast. If you havent been here before, book today. It's very convenient for exploring the Elizabeth town centre and river, with plenty to keep you occupied in the surrounding area.

My room was immaculate and had facilities over and above what you would expect from a B&B. The warm and cosy rooms have Tea & Coffee making items, flat screen TV’s, hairdryers and plenty of storage space. The en suite bathroom was modern with great water pressure to the shower. In the dining room I was served a hearty breakfast that comprised a selection of cereals and yoghurts followed by a full English that kept me going for most of the day. This is all served with lots of tea or coffee together with buttered toast, marmalade and jams. The hosts, John and Sandra made my stay very enjoyable and I can highly recommend The Great Grubb to all who plan a stay in Totnes.

This is the second time I have stayed at the Great Grubb B&B and can recommend it wholeheartedly. The rooms are spotless and comfortable as are the beds and have all the facilities any guest could require. If not available, the hosts Sandra and John could not be more accommodating and helpful. Beautifully cooked reakfast was served in a bright dining room but in summer guests could breakfast in their charming courtyard.It was their friendliness and kindness that brought me back a second time and I would stay there again if visiting the area again.

Booking last minute to avoid a sweeping storm, we were unsure as we made our way into Totnes. However, the Great Grubb B&B absolutely blew us away. We were greeted by John who made us feel instantly at home offering us tea in the Great Grubb’s lovely garden.Our room was comfortable and we were very well looked after.The 10 minute walk into town is along a busy main road which is where the Great Grubb is located.Our room was on the ground floor and the traffic didn’t disturb us.

Stayed for a weekend. The property was warm and spotlessly clean. The guests have use of the dining room, conservatory and patio. The hosts were very accommodating and provided tableware for guests bringing in takeaways.Good breakfast choice. Happy to recommend.

I booked into the Great Grubb, and was immediately given a very warm welcome, by the owners. The off road parking was ideal for me, as I was travelling by car. The Great Grubb accommodation was very clean, comfortable and cosy, so I had a great nights sleep. I always pack my sleep mask, and ear plugs, as there is always the odd sound of people coming and going, doors closing etc, as you would expect from any hotel/b&b. The powerful shower was an excellent way to start to my day. The breakfast room is beautiful airy and bright, which extends into the conservatory/sun lounge, and out into the patio garden; very calm, relaxing and tranquil. There is a good selection of meal options. I had the full English breakfast, with juice to start, freshly made coffee, and toast. It was absolutely delicious, and it set me up for my long journey home.The train station is not to far away, and the centre of Totnes is only a short stretch of the legs away, or you could take the short drive into town and park in one of the many pay and display car parks, or metered parking bays.I would definitely stay here again, and have no reservations in recommending this beautiful B&B to all of my friends, relatives, and acquaintances. Many thanks again for a lovely relaxing stay.

I walked to the B&B from the station and it's also in a great location (though there's also plenty of parking) for easy access to town and countryside.

Totnes was a place we wanted to return to. Chose this B&B for its proximity to town centre. We arrived early just hoping to park the car but were made very welcome and able to check in. The room was very comfortable and well co-ordinated. Everything you needed was available. The breakfast wss excellent and the coffee was good and strong. Will definately return if in Totnes again.

From the warm welcome, through the well appointed room to the brilliant breakfast, given we are a regular B&B o/night stayer, this venue rated as one of the best we have stayed in. Had a great night's sleep and even the road didn't disturb as the double glazing did the job. Cannot recommend it enough and if/when in Totnes again, it will be our preferred choice

I enjoyed my stay in the Great Grubb B&B in Totnes. Toby and Genya make their guests very welcome. The room was comfortable and spacious. It was great to have parking onsite and to be close enough to the town to walk to the shops & cafes. I was visiting relatives, so I didn't have the breakfast but other residents were certainly enjoying theirs and it smelt amazing.

Stayed three nights , room was clean, comfortable and well furnished. The bathroom was compact but then you don't spend a lot of time in there.Toby had plenty of advice on places to see and eat. It was a 20 minute stroll to the town and river.Breakfastwas good with plenty of choice.I would definitely recommend It.

I had a couple of days in Totnes over the weekend, and needed a hassle free place to stay. This was perfect. Very close enough to the town centre, while also out in the lovely countryside. I was surprised how quiet it was. The bed was very comfortable, and the hosts very friendly. Well worth the trip.

We enjoyedour visit, the great breakfasts, and friendly hosts. Good weather helped us to enjoy Totnes and the location was close enough to walk in although the road traffic was busy.overall, a good experience.

We stayed at the Great Grubb in order to take an elderly aunt in a nearby care home out on day trips. Our host went to a great deal of trouble to recommend attractions suitable for a wheelchair user especially on our first day when it was rainy. I can't speak highly enough of The Great Grubb B&B.It's spotlessly clean and the owners are very friendly and welcoming.It's also quite good value.What I particularly liked was that there was no issue about me staying for one night in a single room on a Saturday - some B&B owners can barely conceal their contempt at such a request but not here!I was made to feel every bit as welcome as a couple staying for a week.I would have loved to stay for longer and am thinking of booking a longer stay there next year.The only comment I would make is that the room I had was in a part of the house with very little natural light (the house is situated on the side of a hill).The windows looked out onto (well maintained) passageways and a fire escape staircase.I know that some of the rooms at the B&B have lovely views and I'd have preferred a room with more natural light if I was staying longer (it was absolutely fine for one night).But that's just a small point.The bathroom had lovely modern fixtures and fittings and everything worked very efficiently although in rather a tight space!Overall a great weekend experience.The B&B is easy walking distance from the town and railway station - highly recommended!!

It was absolutely fine. The room was comfortable and spotless with a nice en-suite. Breakfast was good and the owners very nice. They were very accommodating as I had to arrive a bit earlier than usual for an occasion in the town which is a short walk away. Very useful as in Totnes it's not easy to find parking spaces.Excellent.

The Great Grubb is dog-friendly, which is a grand thing. He was allowed in the room and the breakfast room. There is a nice area for walking dogs not far away.Our room was small, but pretty and had everything we needed.The breakfast room is lovely and our hosts were very accommodating with what we wanted.The location is good - it's a short walk into central Totnes and a good base to explore the South Hams.

This is my third visit, first two,times as a single guest, this time stayed at the GREAT GRUBBwith the wife.As with my first couple of stays, this venue is 10/10 for everything, we had room number 7, a stand alone room separate from the main building, and it was an absolute delight to be in, very clean, warm & cozy, so well thought out, every "Want" was catered for, the owners are very friendly and proud of there accommodation and rightly so.In a nut-shell, this is very good accommodation, the breakfast is one of the best we have had, the truth is, if I did not like it, I would not be back, but I have been to stay 3 times, and will be back again because it is so good.

As good as it gets for the purpose, surprisingly near the town centre on foot. Very helpful and friendly owners, superb bathroom. good free wifi. Will use again and recommend.

We chose Great Grubb mainly because we were looking for somewhere that took dogs. However due to a change of plan the dog stayed at home. We just stayed for one night. Our room was great and well suited for an accompanying dog. Good location for walking into Totnes and amiable hosts. We would happily recommend the Annex room .where we stayed.

Stayed here for three nights as we were attending the Sea Change Festival. The room was lovely and comfortable, nice little touches such as the filtered coffee and a cafetia. The breakfast was lovely good quality ingredients and they were very accommodating of peoples requirements. There was everything there you could have wanted. The hosts were friendly and welcoming without being intrusive. All in all a wonderful little place.

Located in a residential area a few minutes away from the town centre we found the welcome from the hosts a little distant and matter of fact. However, the room and facilities were very comfortable and their full English breakfast was wholesome and of good quality.

We really enjoyed this B&B. The room was cosy, nicely decorated, and clean. The shower room looked to be very new. The breakfast was super. Vegetarians were catered for. The hosts were nice and helpful, giving us ideas about what to do in the area. It has a parking area, and if you want to leave the car, it's a short walk into town. There was a nice garden to sit out in at the back. We had three nights there. We could easily have stayed longer!

Great find for us.Everything you could need for an overnight,it is a smallish room so ideal for a short stay.It is very well equipped and comfortable. Lots of nice touches like a cafetiere and sachet of coffee, fridge in dining room to store your own chiiled items, or get fresh milk from.Very friendly and accomodationg owners. Lovely breakfast room and conservatory with lovely outside space as well.Breakfast was delicious and they really could not be any more helpful in catering for your choice.They even suggest you could bring in an evening takeaway and enjoy in the dining room or garden.Highly recommended.Would definitely return.

There are not enough stars available to give to mine hosts who were very caring when I suddenly fell ill during my stay. A very comfortable and clean B&B with a warm welcome. The bed was very comfortable. There was a very good choice of breakfasts available. I chose poached egg, toast, mushrooms and sautéed potatoes and all were perfectly cooked. Some of the breakfast tables were in a very light conservatory area which was very pleasant. The blue stand-by light on the TV in the bedroom seemed OK when I went to bed but seemed very bright and very blue when I woke at 1am. However I was able to switch it off at the wall so it didn't trouble me after that.

Felt very comfortable and as we had travelled in bad weather moving our son,daughter in-law and baby grandson from London to Totnes in extreme downpour we where in dire need of a good rest.Breakfast following morning was very welcome and we where very well looked after. It definitely lives up to its name, as the food was brilliant. Best ingredients, all cooked well. We will definitely be recommending the Great Grubb to friends and family. I don't think that the photos on your website do it justice.

We stayed here as we were going to a party. The hosts were very welcoming and the room that we had (7) was great! Very clean and modern with underfloor heating!! Would definitley stay here again :)

We have stayed at the Great Grubb a few times and have always had a good experience. A warm welcome comfortable tastefully decorated very clean rooms, a very good breakfast with a wide choice, excellent value for money.

This place is what it is, a lower cost B & B on the outskirts of Totnes with parking. Staff (Toby) very friendly and breakfast fresh and tasty. Rooms clean and tidy and bed comfortable. Yes the rooms, including the shower room, are small, but what do you expect for £55/night.TV reception went on the blink a few times, but as I wrote, what do you expect ....Just remember that you will need to go into town for dinner etc.

Had a lovely stay at The Great Grubb, when I arrived as they weren't full I was given a complimentary upgrade to a very nice room. Lovely view of Totnes countryside and the old cemetery across the road. Very nice bathroom and shower with beautiful complimentary toiletries. There was a really good choice for breakfast and they are very happy to tailor the breakfast to suit different appetites. I had the most amazing bacon sandwich.Located within 10 to 15 minutes walk from Totnes town centre with plenty of onsite parking.Would recommend The Great Grubb as a place to stay.

I booked this B&B for three nights for my parents who were visiting for a long weekend. They thoroughly enjoyed their stay; the beds were comfortable, the breakfast good, and the staff helpful. As this happened to be a quiet weekend, the staff put my parents in a larger room than the one originally booked, a gesture well-appreciated.

Really nice B&B feels very private and quiet. We were going to a family wedding in totnes and it was close, easy to find, comfortable, easy parking, easy to get in and out, nice clean decor, comfortable beds, friendly owners, relaxed atmosphere, and the breakfast was good with plenty of choice and the owners were happy to accommodate our dietary quirks. Would recommend and would stay again.

Stayed for one night whilst on business in Totnes. Found the hostsvery friendly and the b and b spotlesy clean. Breakfast was fantastic.

My husband and I loved our stay at the The Great Grubb B&B. They proprietors were very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts served were wonderful, and they even accommodated our various special dietary needs well above and beyond the call of duty. We loved having tea (and breakfasts) in the conservatory (sun room) set in the midst of their lovely garden.It was an easy walk into town as well as to the nearby arboretum and surrounding neighbourboods. In fact, Follaton Estates and Dartington Gardens were in walking distance as well! We plan on returning to Totnes many times in the coming years and definitely plan on returning to the GGB&B. They have earned our loyalty.

Room was clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good. All in all a very pleasant stay, and would recommend.

Excellent breakfast! We travelled by train with our dog and we chose this B&B as it had dog friendly rooms available and was a 20 minute walk from the station. It was a good choice, comfy rooms, we stayed twice and although one room was small the beds were good in both. Very helpful friendly couple who run B&B looked after us well and the breakfast was delicious

On arrival i was welcomed in and shown to my room, the room was small but was very clean and quiet. There was everything i needed in the room for my stay. Breakfast was cooked well with extras on the side if i wanted. The host was very polite and helpful for information on the local area, i enjoyed myself at the Great Grub and would stay there again.

Lovely clean B&B with neat decor, hair dryer and TV with big comfy bed. Very helpful and friendly owner who cooks a great brekkie.Very easy to get to, would definitely reccommend, especially to anyone attending a Wedding at Kingston Estate, taxi was only £15 to bring us back after party's to 1am. Thumbs up!

I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone wanting to stay in a home from home. They were great hosts and were very accommodating to our incredibly early starts, getting up and sorting breakfast for us! We will be back next year

A very friendly welcome from mine host, found me somewhere to store my cycle overnight, booked me a table at the local restaurant (rumours - excellent) and then let me hang around for an extra hour until the rain stopped the next morning. Thoroughly recommended.

We arrived at the Great Grubb on a very wet, cold evening and were greeted warmly by the owner. Our room was cozy and clean andperfectly adequate for our overnight stay with the added bonus of an en suite bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the room was warm. Breakfast was tasty and generous. We would definitely stay there again.

My sister and I stayed there for two weeks and we felt really welcome and well looked after during the whole period. The hosts are extremely kind, the room - cosy, spacious and with a great view out of the window. The full English breakfast was delicious. Everything is within easy walking distance - the castle, Dartington Hall, the railway and coach stations, the market and Fore street. We enjoyed every single minute of our stay. I would highly recommend this b&b to anyone staying in Totnes for business or leisure.

An excellent and friendly B and B. The room is comfy, warm and very well stocked with all you need. The breakfast is lovely - always nice fresh fruit salad and a wide range of cooked food. The lounge has lots of useful books about the area. Car parking and a short walk into town makes it a perfect location.

my friend and i stayed for one night and were made most welcome.The accommodation was eclectic, just right for Totnes. i loved the bathroom in my room - very "boudoir".Shirley made exactly what we wanted for our breakfast and it was really good food. If i visit Totnes again, i would definitely stay a 2nd time.it is also very close to the high street, so the location is great

A lovely warm welcome greeted me when I arrived. The room was comfortable, the bathroom large and well supplied with all you need. The cheerful breakfast room offered fresh fruit salad, cereals and a cooked breakfast with excellent coffee. The walk to the top of the main street only took 10 minutes, so it's close to everything. I would happily stay again.

This was my second stay at The Great Grubb and once again it was a wonderful stay. Shirley and all at The Great Grubb are verywarm, welcoming, accommodating and helpful. A home away from home. Also, fantastic value for money.

We spent just one night at The Great Grubb, but it was lovely. The bedroom was really big and clean, as well as beautiful. We had an amazing cooked breakfast as well, and apparently products are locally sourced. The owner is very kind, she even gave us information on Totnes as it was our first visit. I would recommend it without any doubt!

I stayed on my own on Friday and was joined at GG on Saturday for Totnes LGBTI Pride.This was a wonderful choice.Charming hosts-considerate and hospitable.Clean and comfortable accommodation with all you need at hand.Loads of choices at breakfast time and delicious food.A busy and popular venue and one can see why.The owners extend a great welcome to a diverse range of clients and were very helpful.Thank you for a great stay. I recently had to visit Dartmouth to attend a funeral.I was unable to find accomodation in Dartmouth and decided to try Totnes.How pleased I was.The room albeit rather small was more than adequate with some welcome additions such as toileties in the En-suite bathroom and a very generous refreshment tray. I enjoyed two very substantial breakfasts and perhaps, most importantly the staff were very welcoming and helpful. I needed some information on how to travel to Dartmouth by local bus and was given up to date timetables and directions for the bus stops.All in all a very comfortable stay and I would not hesitate in recommending the Great Grubb.

Me and my dad enjoyed our 1 night stay very much. The service was friendly and efficient and hosts were very attentive to our needs. Room was comfortable, clean and nice and quiet. The breakfast was delicious with generous portions and was lovely to sit in the sunny conservatory to eat.
